What To Expect If You Don't Submit Your Tax Returns By December 4 –  2oceansvibe News | South African and international news

The filing season is the period in which taxpayers must complete and submit their annual tax return.

  • You will be able to file your tax return when the annual tax filing season is open
  • For most taxpayers this filing season runs from July to around October/November every year (different for provisional taxpayers)
  • Provisional taxpayers have until the end of January to file via Efiling
  • The due date for the submission of Income Tax Returns is published annually in the Government Gazette
  • SARS can adjust these dates, so please be cautious of this, we have released the accurate dates for the 2022 tax year

Filing Season Dates for Individuals

  • 1 July to end October/November:
    • Taxpayers who file online
    • Taxpayers who cannot file online can do so at a SARS branch by appointment only (Covid dependent) *currently closed for appointments
  • 1 July to 31 January: Provisional taxpayers who file via eFiling or the SARS MobiApp.

For the 2022 tax year, the following dates have since been released for the submission of your 2022 Tax return (this is always subject to change)

  • 24 October 2022 for non-provisional taxpayers
  • 23 January 2023 for provisional taxpayers
